`Getting Started Using the Web Factory
Web Page Design Quick Start - Creating a Web Page

Edit and Test the Web Page

After creating your Web page, you should review and edit the document for content and typographical, coding, and formatting errors. Web Factory lets you spell check, validate the HTML coding and test the Web page before posting it to the World Wide Web. Print a hard copy to review the page appearance.

  1. Run Spell Check

In preview view only, use the Spell Check option to check for possible spelling errors.

    1. Click on the Spell Check button on the Standard Toolbar.
Or, select Spell Check on the Text menu.
Web Factory scans the page and informs you of possible errors. It also provides a selection of alternative spellings when possible.

    2. When a spell check error is detected, select an alternative spelling from the drop down list, or type the correction and click the Replace button. If the spelling is correct, click the Ignore button.
Web Factory informs you when the entire page has been checked.

  2. Test View

Click on Test View on the View menu to use the Test View window to test links and other HTML elements which do not appear or function in the preview window. The Test View can be used to test files on your local drive and network or on the World Wide Web, if your computer is currently connected to the Internet or your company's intranet. The Test View window displays the Web page as it will appear in the browser.

Use the Test View Navigation Toolbar to navigate among Web pages on your hard drive, network, or Web server in the test view window. Much like the buttons on a Web browser, they include the following options, from left to right:

  3. Validate HTML

Before posting a Web page to the Internet, you should make sure that you do not have any source code errors. Use the Edit menu, Validate HTML option to check the HTML source code to ensure that all required tags and end tags are included, and are spelled correctly.

Web Factory warns you about tags that Web Factory does not recognize, and allows you to correct them or ignore the warning and continue. Such warnings are usually the result of typographical errors when you typed in the tag, incorrect tag attributes or parameters, or simply the use of a recently introduced tag that your version of Web Factory does not support.

Unfamiliar with HTML? If you are currently connected to the Internet, click on www.yahoo.com or http://guide.infoseek.com to search the World Wide Web for more information about HTML.

  4. Print File

Use the Print option to print a copy of your document.

    1. Click on the Print button on the Standard Toolbar.
      Displays the Print box.

    2. Select the following options:
      • Which printer you will use
      • Number of copies to print
      • Which pages of the file to print

    3. Click the Properties button to select the paper size and other options.

    4. Click OK.
The file prints to your default printer.

    Note
You may print the Web page from the preview or test window. You may also print the HTML source code from the source window.
